This ancient wisdom is being used silently and strategically in businesses throughout the world. For centuries it has been used in China, the largest living culture on the planet. In Hong Kong, a business does not relocate without a Feng Shui Master. Donald Trump outwardly reports its critical influence in his recent success. Retail chains throughout the country are creating models to ensure success in every location. Why, it works!

This invisible advantage is the flow of energy in any environment. The basic premise of Feng Shui is quite simple. Everything has energy, or Chi. Chi is a combination of vibration, texture, color, symbolism, placement, function, use, abuse, lighting, fields of electromagnetic influence, odor, individual and cultural meaning. All of these things make up how it feels subconsciously and consciously. An obvious example is when you walk into a room and it is completely cluttered and smells a little stale. You may just want to run out the door. If you had an employee working there, it will affect his/her health, productivity and state of mind. If there is no color in a space; motivation, production and morale are affected. Too much color or the improper use of color can cause conflict and several different types of challenges.

Desk position is important. The type of desk, quality and size factor in the Feng Shui. In businesses, color choices, strategic placement of plants and water, as well as building shape are some of the factors that Feng Shui considers. Choice of artwork and placement of artwork contribute to harmony and productivity in the office. Placement of offices contributes to the flow and should honor of chain of command. I have seen many businesses give much energetic power to employees at the lower end of the organizational chart. There is a fundamental difference between empowerment and giving away the power.

Entrance ways are key areas that usually need a Feng Shui assessment. Quite literally, it is how the world meets your organization. For that reason it is very important. It is important even if you do not have foot traffic from the general public. In addition, entranceways are the symbolic representation of how opportunities come to your business. Is it a smooth flow? Or is it an utter challenge to get to your front door? A classical example is your Feng Shui reaction when you first enter a doctor or dentist's office. Most of us do not look forward to this experience with joy or enthusiasm; there is a sense of pain, anxiety (or terror) or simple discomfort. (Doctor's and Dentist's are not alone, think of how you feel when you have an appointment with your attorney, financial planner, or accountant).

If you enter a location where the décor is not designed to make you feel welcome, such as a blank wall at first sight, or a wall of pamphlets, or the odor is clinical or stale, or it is a tight dark entry… etc. All of these descriptions will cause your respiration rate to ever so slightly increase, therefore increasing your overall discomfort! Excellent Feng Shui choices in an entry are: a beautiful piece of art work, or lush plants - live or very good silk, aquariums, water fountains, a clean subtle fragrance of pure essential oils chosen exclusively for that businesses' needs and much more. It will actually lower the respiration rate and cause a positive first impression. This creates a warm welcoming feeling that creates an excellent message of care and consideration to your customers, clients and employees. These choices made with an expert eye can give the corporation an invisible advantage over its competition.

The secret is, understanding Feng Shui correctly. It can't be copied by a competitor since it is designed for your organization, your building type, your location geographically in your town, your owner(s) or board of directors, and various other parameters that are unique to your company. It is the invisible advantage. The chi that flows through your present location can be working for you or against you. Feng Shui increases productivity, market share, health of the organization as a whole, health of individuals, enhances reputation, secures and respects the power in the chain of command, protects from takeovers, and helps you seize opportunities that may be unseen at the moment. When business property locations never seem to quite make it, (i.e. the restaurant site that constantly changes and no one is successful) Feng Shui can correct the imbalance of this energy and make it a viable location. The process to make that correction is quite involved and is very powerful.

Feng Shui is being used in homes and businesses around the world to simply improve quality of life and work. Minor adjustments are usually needed to make powerful and profound changes. It is not the use of major remodeling. All of your environments are there to serve, nourish and support you. Get the most out of your space with Feng Shui. ©
